Standard-feature Dynamic Stability Control (DSC) prevents unstable driving situations by intervening in the engine management and, if necessary, by applying braking force to individual wheels at the front or rear. DSC also includes Hill Assist.

Dynamic Traction Control (DTC) lets the driver actively make use of the self-steering properties of the MINI. Electronic Differential Lock Control (EDLC) recognises when the wheel slip is too high on the inside wheel during cornering and applies braking force for optimum handling on bends and different road surfaces.

During normal braking, the brake lights light up across their entire surface – during emergency braking, they start to flash. This allows vehicles behind distinguish between gentle and full-on braking. The automatically activated hazard warning lights then help to defuse the critical situation.

The rear spoiler reduces lift on the rear axle, especially at higher speeds, and thus provides aerodynamic balance. This increases safety, particularly when you brake from high speeds to take corners.

“Complete all-round protection” is the principle for the MINI John Cooper Works Roadster body construction. The stiff collapsible steering column acts as a protective shield. All in all, it offers the greatest possible protection in the case of a front impact, rear impacts, side impacts and rollovers.

The active roll-over protection made of stainless steel is located behind the headrests and underlines the exceptional design lines of the MINI John Cooper Works Roadster. In combination with the strengthened A-pillar and the stabilised windscreen frame, it offers both passengers a maximum of safety.

The torsional reinforcements built into the separating wall behind the front seats guarantee maximum agility. They stiffen the chassis, enabling sporty driving at any time.

Thanks to the multilink rear axle, each wheel can react independently, meaning that an uneven road surface doesn't affect the entire chassis − and that your driving experience remains as relaxed as ever. Even more safety is provided by the single-link spring-strut front axle and symmetrical, equal-length drive shafts.
